Official 5G support for iPhones is coming to India on December 13 at 11:30 p.m. local time for Jio and Airtel customers. Users in India may now take advantage of 5G network speed in locations where it is accessible thanks to the introduction of iOS 16.2. All iPhones that are Activate 5G compatible by 2020 will have that capability enabled automatically. This includes the most recent iPhone SE model as well as the iPhone 12, iPhone 13, and iPhone 14 lines. Airtel and Jio SIMs are interoperable, so those who already have a 4G SIM and data plan won’t have to make any changes.

How can I activate 5G on my iPhone in India?
The iPhone’s software may be updated using the Settings app by selecting General, then Software Update. iOS 16.2 may be downloaded from the official Apple website. Download the update after agreeing to the terms and conditions. Please remember to always back up your data before updating software.
After the update is applied and the iPhone is rebooted, a new 5G status icon may appear in the notification area (if Wi-Fi is not currently active). If you don’t see Cellular > Cellular Data Options when you open the Settings app, touch there. You may select which of your two active SIMs to utilise for 5G if you have that option.
If you want your iPhone to automatically reduce data use by changing your connection speed based on network conditions and battery life, you may leave Auto mode on. Since the older standard uses less power, your smartphone will automatically convert to 4G LTE when you aren’t using high-speed internet. If you turn on 5G in Cellular Data Options, your smartphone will only use 5G if and when it is available. Alternatively, you may disregard 5G by switching to LTE, which might help you save battery life.
iPhone 5G update in India: iOS 16.2
Both iOS 16.2 and iPadOS 16.2 were published at the same time, and in addition to allowing Activate 5G capability for iPhones, they also offer a few new features and provide bug fixes and security improvements. A new software called Freeform provides a space for users to quickly sketch out concepts and share them with others. This software was previewed before iOS 16 was released earlier this year, but it is just now being made available to the public. It’ll work with Apple’s iPads and iPhones, and those with an Apple Pencil will be able to sketch directly in the app.
Apple Music Sing is a new karaoke option that displays song lyrics so that listeners may sing along with their favourite songs, either by themselves or in a duet with the original artist. Additionally, in places where it is available, the Emergency SOS Via Satellite function, which is now only available on the iPhone 14 series, will become available. Apple highlights enhancements to the lock screen UI, including the ability to customise the appearance of alerts and turn off your homescreen wallpaper on the always-on display of the iPhone 14 Pro series.
Although Apple claims this would reduce spam, opponents have pointed out that it may also impede spontaneous communication during movements like protests.
Other changes include the ability to find photos in Messages by describing their content in words, enhanced iCloud Private Relay controls, better crash detection on the iPhone 14 series, and a bug fix for iCloud data syncing. Additionally, FaceTime multiplayer support for Game Centre games and a game Activity widget that lets users see what friends are playing are new features.
