Google Could Be Working on Second Foldable Phone With Triple Rear Cameras, High-End Tablet, Developer Claims

One developer has speculated that Google is developing a second foldable smartphone as well as a new tablet. The developer has released an image of the code from Google’s Android 13 Quarterly Platform Release 1 (QPR1) beta, which hints to the camera specs of a second foldable device from the tech giant. The coding, the programmer says, suggests the phone will have three cameras on the back: a main Sony IMX787 sensor, a secondary Sony IMX386 sensor for ultra-wide shots, and a third Samsung S5k3J1 sensor for telephoto zoom. Predictions of a foldable phone from the business surfaced earlier this year.

Recently, developer Kuba Wojciechowsk came to Twitter to show off some of the source code for the next Android 13 QPR1 beta from Google. The developer discovered two unannounced Google gadgets buried in the search giant’s code. The first is a rumoure foldable phone called Felix, while the second is a premium tablet called T6Pro or Tangorpro. Wojciechowsk also revealed the claimed camera specs of Google’s foldable phone in the same Twitter thread.

Wojciechowsk claims that Google’s foldable phone, dubbed “Felix,” will include a triple camera arrangement on the back. The device is said to include three cameras: a main IMX787 senor, an ultra-wide IMX386 lens, and a telephoto S5K3J1 lens. Internally, it’s advertise as having an IMX355 sensor. The phone may have a telephoto S5k3J1 selfie camera on the outside display.

According to Wojciechowsk, Google’s high-end tablet (known internally as “T6Pro” or “tangorpro”) is still in the works and there are no indications of a redesign in the source code. A foldable Google phone codename “Pipit” reportedly seen on the testing site Geekbench.

There was talk that the ‘Pipit’ phone’s SoC will be a Tensor chip. Wojciechowsk claims that the ‘Felix’ smartphone is a different foldable model from the ‘Pipit’ smartphone. The developer claims that the foldable smartphone’s Tensor SoC outdate by the time it is launch. The Pixel Fold or Pixel Notepad have both suggest as names for Google’s rumoured foldable smartphone.
