Xiaomi CyberOne – Discover – Mi Global Home

Beijing, CHINA, August 11th 2022 – Xiaomi CyberOne first humanoid robot, debuted at the company’s new product launch event in Beijing on August 11, alongside other innovative products.

CyberOne is the latest addition to Xiaomi’s Cyber line of robots. It features sophisticated arms and legs, the ability to maintain a balanced bipedal position, and a maximum torque of 300Nm. Among the many cutting-edge technologies showcased were those that could recognise human emotions, provide enhanced vision, and reproduce the real environment in three dimensions virtually.

New self-developed breakthroughs in Xiaomi Technology Ecosphere

“Xiaomi Robotics Lab created CyberOne’s AI and mechanics. We’ve invested extensively in software, hardware, and algorithm R&D “Xiaomi Group CEO Lei Jun.

With AI at its foundation and a full-size humanoid frame as its vessel, this is a breakthrough for Xiaomi.

CyberOne is 177cm tall, 52kg, and has 168cm arms. This humanoid robot requires more powerful motors, more degrees of freedom, and advanced biped control algorithms than a quadruped robot. CyberOne provides up to 21 degrees of motion flexibility and reaches 0.5ms real-time response speed for each degree, simulating human movements.

Each joint motor affects a robot’s movements. Such motors require advanced technology to generate greater kinetic energy without increasing component size. Xiaomi’s upper limb joint motor weighs 500g and has a 30Nm output torque to assure CyberOne’s flexibility. The hip motor’s peak torque is 300Nm. CyberOne’s walking posture is natural and stable thanks to a self-developed bipedal control system. CyberOne can programme by demonstration and hold up to 1.5kg with one hand. CyberOne has excellent coordination and motion skills.

Humanoid robots use eyesight to navigate. CyberOne can see 3D space, recognise individuals, movements, and expressions, and interpret its environment thanks to its self-developed Mi-Sense depth vision module and AI interaction algorithm. It is equipped with a self-developed MiAI environment semantics recognition engine and a MiAI vocal emotion identification engine to connect with the world. CyberOne can detect happiness and comfort a sad individual. CyberOne’s processing units are combined with a curved OLED module to display real-time interactive information.

Xiaomi CyberOne Keep exploring, and bring robots into people’s lives

Humanoid robots are the “crown gem of production” Unlike industrial robots, humanoid robots must imitate human vision, cognition, decision-making, and execution in varied settings. Many of the new technologies developed to overcome this problem are already helping the public.

CyberOne is a sign of Xiaomi’s commitment to incubate a centralised technology ecosystem and connect it to the globe. Xiaomi explores and extends its inventions in numerous settings to better link people and the planet, establishing an ever-evolving Xiaomi Technology Ecosphere.

Humanoid bionic robots require the most technological integration, according to Lei Jun. In contrast to CyberOne, which has been improving consistently for years, Xiaomi is just getting off the ground. “Intelligent robots will be part of people’s life,” stated Lei Jun.

CyberOne’s R&D combines cutting-edge technology from bionic perception and cognition, biomechatronics, AI, big data and cloud computing, and visual navigation. These technical developments might lead to enhanced industrial robots, companion robots with emotion detection, and public service robots driven by big data and cloud computing. Future Xiaomi devices will use CyberOne’s technologies.
